Use the OS X version of MediaInfo to check what codec was used to encode the audio of that video file, then post the information here. Their performance is very high, but so is the risk of overpaying for a rare, damaged or broken unit that JVC itself has absolutely no clue how to repair.

If I double click the file in Windows Explorer then WMP does start but says file is either corrupt or not supported. You only have to ground the first splitter.
